An apostille is the type of attestation through which documents are legalized in a particular format which is applicable to all the nations which are signatory to the Hague Convention of 1961. A document apostilled in one country is valid in all the countries which are signatory to the Hague convention. . Apostille is done for Educational, Non Educational and Commercial documents.

Apostille stamp is a square shaped computer generated sticker, pasted on the back side of the Original Documents by MEA, India. Apostille stamp is a sticker having a unique identification number, by which any member country of the Hague convention can check its genuineness online.

In normal cases, after the document has been apostilled, it does not required to be attested by the respective embassy.

Apostille procedure

Apostille procedure is carried out for the following documents.

Educational certificates Apostille

Educational certificates include degree certificate, diploma certificate, matriculation certificate, intermediate certificate, professional degree certificate etc.

 First, the certificates have to be attested from the HRD of the respective state. In case of union territory, they are attested from the GAD / NORKA. Finally, they are sent for Apostille from MEA.

Non educational certificates Apostille

Non educational certificates include birth certificate, marriage certificate, police certificate, registration certificate, medical certificate etc.

The certificates have to be attested from the State Home Department of the respective state. In case of union territory, they are attested from the GAD / SDM. Finally, they are sent for Apostille from MEA.

Commercial certificates Apostille

Commercial certificates include export invoice, power of attorney, packaging list, chemical analysis report, physical analysis report etc.

The certificates have to be attested from the respective Chamber of Commerce. Finally, they are sent for Apostille from MEA.
